Sneak Preview:
Statista Study on the Future of OT

How advanced is digitalization in operational technology (OT) worldwide, and where are the greatest opportunities and risks for businesses? These are the questions addressed in Statista's new study, "Operational Technology State 2025", developed in collaboration with AMDT.

Before the official release, let's take a look at some of the key findings.

  • Hybrid Models as a Risk
Only 33% of companies have fully automated, centralized OT asset inventories. The majority (67%), however, still rely on a hybrid approach, combining modern technologies with manual processes, which leaves businesses more vulnerable to cyberattacks.

  • Different Risk Perceptions
Sixty-two percent of companies reported system outages and equipment failures within the past three years. Interestingly, while 88% of technical specialists rank downtime as their top concern, only 41% of strategic decision-makers share this view. This highlights a clear gap in risk awareness and prioritization across organizational levels.

  • Strategic alignment is key
Despite measurable gains in efficiency and innovation, cybersecurity remains the greatest challenge. To stay future-ready, companies must tightly integrate operational excellence with digital innovation.
